Great Britain: a 5% rise in motor insurance premiums

GrewThe insurance quotes comparator Confused.com has published the motor insurance price index for the year 2019. Insuring one’s car in Great Britain, costs 5% more in 2019 than in 2018.

Drivers in central London are particularly affected by this rate increase which reached an average of 8%. For the fourth quarter of 2019 alone, tariffs grew by 4% compared to the same period of previous year. In early 2020, the average motor premium amounts to 815 GBP (1 060 USD).

The motor tariff for female drivers aged between 26 and 30 will increase by 9% in 2019. Male drivers aged between 17 and 20, whose premiums rose by 6% only, continue to pay the highest premiums.
