France’s storms of June 2021: loss estimate

floodsAccording to the French Insurance Federation (FFA), the storms and floods that hit France from 16 to 29 June 2021 have caused 235 000 claims for a total cost of 550 million EUR (650.3 million USD).

The five regions most affected by the bad weather are Ile-de-France, Aisne, Gironde, Marne and Oise.

The homeowner’s, motor and professional and agricultural property damage activities are the ones that recorded the highest compensation claims.

This natural disaster can be compared to the floods and hailstorms that took place from 25-14 May 2018, generating 731 million EUR (864.4 million USD) of insured losses.
