Comprehensive climate insurance agreement signed between the State and Mamda

The State and the insurer Mamda concluded an agreement for the distribution of insurance policies covering farmers against climate risks.

The agreement is designed to cover cereal and legumes crops throughout Morocco for previously defined climate risks. Covered areas will not exceed 300 000 hectares in 2012 but are poised to reach more than 1 million hectares in 2015. This coverage will be subsidized by the State up to 53% or even 90% depending on the scope of the coverage.
