CAN 2022: Pooling of Cameroonian Non-Life Insurers

The Minister of Finance, Louis-Paul Motaze, and the Association of Insurance Companies of Cameroon (ASAC) held a meeting on 30 July 2020 to discuss the insurance needs of the future Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) which will take place in 2022 in Cameroon.

The event will be covered by a group of 17 Cameroonian non-life insurers.

According to ASAC, a single insurance company alone could not bear a major loss such as the event's cancellation, suspension or stoppage during the competition of the final tournament. With this in mind, the decision to bring together all non-life insurance companies operating in Cameroon was taken.

The establishment of an insurance policy should comply with the requirements of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
