Both bankers and insurers are seeking COMESA’s aid

Gathered in early March in Nairobi, members of the COMESA board (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa) have decided to establish a regional financial hub, following a request from bankers and insurers.
In March 2011, ten associations of bankers mentioned the difficulties of the industry, calling for the establishment of structures to address them. In response, a new payment system has been introduced in the member countries.
