An insurance company joins the Korean metaverse

robotHeungkuk Life Insurance is the first life insurer to join the Korean metavers alliance. This union, launched in May 2021 by the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT, includes more than 300 national companies, among which the leaders Samsung Electronics and Hyundai.

Through this partnership, it is expected that Heungkuk Life Insurance customers will be able to visit their agency using a virtual reality (VR) headset.

For the record, the metaverse is a new technology that allows Internet users equipped with a VR headset to access a virtual world in 3D. In this futuristic version of the Internet, users will find themselves immersed in a 3D environment in the form of an avatar.

The metaverse promises to revolutionize video meetings in the workplace by directly projecting interlocutors face to face. Many activities, such as attending a show or shopping, could also become available without leaving home using a VR headset.

Several Internet giants are already involved in the development of the metaverse, especially Facebook, the company that launched its new social network of the future "Horizon Worlds" in early December 2021.
