A draft bill for capping the compensation of the motor third party liability

Insurers could soon succeed in capping the motor third party liability.

The Ministry of Road Transport has tabled a draft bill containing an amendment that would cap the compensation to 24.200 USD. These are now calculated by the Motor Accident Claim Tribunal (MACT) without a cap.

The bill also includes tougher penalties in case of lack of insurance and road traffic breach in order to reduce road non-compliance behavior and increase the insurers’ income.
