Westgate Mall: insurers soften their positions

Most policyholders affected by the Nairobi Mall events did not have any coverage against acts of terrorism. Kenyan insurers had, at first, decided to compensate customers based on the policies written. Several insurers, including APA and Takaful Insurance Africa, have later announced their willingness to provide ex gratia compensations on the case-per-case basis.
