Traffic deaths on the rise in France in 2025

According to the French Road Safety Observatory (ONISR), 3 515 people lost their lives on French roads (mainland France and overseas territories) in 2025.

This figure represents a 2.4% increase compared with 2024 and a 0.5% rise relative to 2019, the reference year for the 2020-2030 road safety strategy.

In metropolitan France, road traffic accidents resulted in 3 263 fatalities and approximately 247 000 injuries.

In the overseas territories, 252 people were killed in road accidents during 2025.
