New York City, the most populous city in the United States, was brought to a standstill on 23 February 2026 by a powerful snowstorm. Several other states across the northeastern United States were also affected.
Between 40 and 50 centimeters of snow fell in New York, causing widespread disruption, including severe traffic slowdowns, flight cancellations, and power outages.
Authorities declared a state of emergency and imposed travel bans, while blizzard warnings were issued in certain areas.
The storm is considered one of the most severe snow events to hit the region in more than a decade.
