Reduced claims processing times in Algeria

chronometerOn 9 March 2021, an instruction from the Minister of Finance required non-life insurance companies to improve the claims process. This measure came in response to complaints from policyholders about the long delays in claims processing.

Claims processing time, mainly in motor insurance, should not exceed a maximum of 21 days from the date of the claim notification.

The Minister also calls on insurers to take other measures such as:

  • the implementation of codified procedures for the claims examination and performance measurement
  • compliance with the inter-company agreements signed and validated by the supervisory authority
  • more transparency in the management of claims files
