New insurance regulatory measures in Kenya

Insurance Regulatory Authority of Kenya, IRA, set the deadline of November 30, 2017 for the enforcement of new regulatory requirements. IRA has also announced that by the end of the year 2017 it will be processing license applications received prior to November 13, 2017.

Another new measure: As of 2018, IRA will be granting permanent licenses for insurance companies complying with the legislation in force. The latter will no longer be required to renew their license on a yearly basis.

This administrative relief does not apply to brokers and other insurance intermediaries.
