Management of political risks

The management of political risks has been the subject of intense discussions in Dubai in late November 2011. Governments are called upon to support insurers’ initiatives in the management of underwriting engagements of war, strikes, riots and civil commotion risks. Among the solutions on the table, there was a proposal for the establishment of pools financially supported by States. Some underwriters have also demanded an upward revision of the tariffs for these risks, a clear redefinition of these events or their mere exclusion.
