Local reinsurers more resilient

According to Standard & Poor's, regional reinsurers in Asia-Pacific are well established and hold significant market share. They are in a better position than their counterparts in Eastern and Central Europe, Africa and the Middle East to face competitors.

In these regions, global reinsurers have largely dominant position to the detriment of smaller reinsurers that are established more recently than those in the Asia-Pacific region. Thanks to the good health of local economies, the latter have a greater activity and an increasing demand for capacity.
