Indian insurers called on to use Digilocker to underwrite policies

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) is calling on all insurers to use Digilocker to offer insurance policies for their customers. Digilocker is an online digital service provided by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The initiative is part of the Digital India plan.

IRDAI says the new service helps to reduce costs, settle claims quickly, decrease fraud as well as improve the insurers/insured relationship.
