40% of vehicles in Gabon are uninsured

According to FEGASA (Gabonese Federation of Insurance Companies), out of the 250 000 vehicles travelling in Gabon, only 150 000 are insured. In the end, 100 000 road users are in violation of the laws.

This situation results in a significant shortfall for insurance companies which lose more than 10 billion FCFA (17 million USD) per year. Another loser is the Gabonese State which reports a loss of earnings of one billion FCFA (1.7 million USD) in taxes.
