The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) has granted licenses to 21 insurance operators between April and June 2025, including nine captives, six reinsurers and one insurer.
These additions bring the total number of operating licenses issued by CIMA in the first six months of the current year to 21.
The authority also granted approval in principle to nine license applications, while 14 others are still under review.
With these new additions, the total number of licensed insurance and reinsurance companies operating in the Cayman Islands has reached 712, with total written premiums of 41 billion USD and assets of 152 billion USD.
