As in the previous years, insurers find themselves in a strong position facing reinsurers that are ready to make concessions so as to retain their market share. A significant increase in supply generated by capital inflows and a declining natural disaster loss ratio are merely weakening the reinsurers'position.
It should also be noted that the reinsurance market is going through a great period of consolidation (mergers and acquisitions) the target of which are some big players.
